Voting Open!

Having read e's post below and Jo's comments, I would like to propose that e chooses the book for October, as she has been having trouble getting books. therefore she can choose one she knows she can get hold of. Then I thought I would try to add a poll to the side bar to see if we can choose the next book few books after that.

I am not sure if it will work, because most of us who read here are co-authors of the blog, will it count as one vote? So I have enable 'multilpe votes' to see if that helps. Of course anyone who visits here who is not a 'co-author' can still vote!

I have tried to include all books suggestions from previous comments pages. I am sorry if I have missed anyone's choice- just leave a comment and we can add it in for next time. I propose that we take the 3 top chioces for our next 3 books. Any suggestions about how this progresses welcome....

  1. Great set-up. Let's meet on Twitter and discuss this in real time. Does everyone have a Twitter account?

  2. 'Lo Cinnamon! Wondering if "The Plague" differs from the De Foe version I have( I confess I've been away for a while ). Too, as I suggested the "Judge Dee" book; it may not be for everyone, as it does deal with capital punishment, as seen in 8th century China( but only towards the end of the book )...I'd opt for the next three on the list( minus the one I've read )and most certainly let e have a go at this :)

  4. no, I'm not on twitter, but i am on fb. Perhaps we should learn to tweet Subby!

I think the Plague is by a French writer- we would be reading a translation. Just to remind everyone- you can vote for several books, not just one.

  8. On Twitter I'm tuttut. (e: it's easy to sign up on Twitter anonymously and use a made up name. I'm not so sure about Facebook.)

On Facebook, I'm MYSELF! If we end up FBing instead of Tweeting, e-mail me, and I'll send you my name.

I voted for The Plague, because I haven't read any Camus in a long while.

  11. I've been rather absent for a while as I plow through Atlas Shrugged. But the light is at the end of that tunnel. I will happily attempt to read whatever you next choose!

  13. Hi Cinnamon,

I've placed Hideous Kinky, Listening is an Act of Love, The Shadow of the Wind, the Bowles book and Animals Make Us Human, on hold at the library. We'll see how the voting ends up in the next day or so. Grey Souls isn't in the cataloged holdings.

Has anyone ever read The Jane Austen Book Club or Random Hearts?

  14. Hi e- yes I read the Jane Austen Book Club- but it was more than a year ago and I have to say it was rather unmemorable as the only memory I have is that I didn't particularly enjoy it!

    I havn't read Random Hearts.

I'll be back later as the voting finishes. Looks like it is going to be Hideous Kinky, The Plague and The Wind-up Bird Chronicles. What would you like to read for October?

  15. I think Hideous Kinky is a good read for October, though it will be another week or so before it arrives at my regional for pick up. I got the Bowles book today, so will start on that.
